Handwashing is one of the easiest yet most powerful ways to stop the spread of infections. To wash hands effectively, wet them with clean running water, apply soap, and scrub all surfaces—including palms, backs, between fingers, and under nails—for at least 20 seconds. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean towel or air-dry. Practicing handwashing before meals, after toilet use, and after contact with contaminated surfaces greatly reduces disease transmission and promotes healthier living.
